Reason for starting Blaze
In 2007 at 33, overweight and barely able to run 1 mile I decided it was time for a change, in October when the Blaze flyer arrived through my door I thought it would be a perfect way to help me make the change and get back some discipline and fitness. Not being from the area originally I also thought it would be a great way to meet like minded people.
18 months later, 2 stone lighter and having recently completed my first ever triathlon, I am significantly less familiar with my sofa and have made the change to a far more active and healthy lifestyle, with the exception of the odd Blaze night out!!!
My goals and objective
As with all students of martial arts my ultimate goal is a black belt but in the short term my goals are to train hard and be 100% prepared for each grading.
As a coach my objective is to be a positive influence and help students progress through the grades.
Why I became a coach
As a child and teenager I was fortunate enough to be involved in a variety of sports and be extremely active. I believe that this gave me a solid foundation and taught me valuable lessons such as discipline, team work and dedication.
As a junior coach I find I have the opportunity to help students to not only develop their technical abilities but also to help them develop skills that will serve them in all aspects of their lives in the future.
